My name is Michal, pronounced: “me-KHAL”. I’m a CG Supervisor and Software Engineer with experience in feature films, television shows, and commercials, as well as app design and development. I have an extensive background in visual effects, computer programming, and traditional art. I’ve worked on projects such as The Hobbit, Captain America, and the Geico Gecko. I have also founded my own startup where I create mobile apps, with a focus on creativity and education. My flagship animation app, PuppetMaster, has gained nearly 1 million downloads. And just for fun, I dabble in music and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
PuppetMaster
Animate. Literally. Anything.
My flagship app, PuppetMaster, lets kids animate their artwork, toys, friends, anything they want - just by moving their body and talking!
I coded the first versions myself, then eventually grew my team, which I led through further development of the app. PuppetMaster has nearly a million downloads. It has also won numerous awards and accolades, and was named one of the American Association of School Librarians' "Best Apps for Teaching and Learning".
Lou Adventures
Reading Comprehension App
Lou Adventures is a project I developed for clients. This unique app teaches children reading comprehension, utilizing exciting 3D gameplay as well as speech recognition.
The app includes multiple games within it, which I conceptualized and then led through implementation. This included creating detailed specs and concept art, hiring and managing developers and designers, and building and maintaining budgets and timelines.

Generative AI
Generative AI is evolving rapidly, and I’m thrilled to be experimenting with its potential. Here, I share a selection of projects that blend traditional VFX workflows with these innovative AI tools, exploring a range of styles and techniques. Many pieces are still works in progress, but I’m excited to offer a glimpse into my creative process. (Please play with the sound on, so you don't miss the dialogue and music!)
